The purpose of the journal Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is to contribute to the development and dissemination of multidisciplinary knowledge on organizations and markets in emerging economies, to increase dialogue among scholars focused on a specific emerging economy or region and to encourage and give an outlet to high quality scholarship, both local and international, to this subject.
The journal uses broad definition of emerging economies that excludes from the focus only the highest-developed countries of the world. Therefore Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is inviting studies from Central and Eastern Europe, majority of Asian countries, countries in Central and South America and in Africa.
Emerging economies vary significantly by their size, industry structure, geopolitical location, and reserves of natural resources such as oil and gas. These differences have an impact on the distinctiveness of their organizations and markets. This variety of emerging economies might also motivate scholarly curiosity to identify context-specific relationships as well as trends across different emerging economies.
The journal concentrates on studies that emphasize uniqueness of emerging economies in terms of how:
a) organizations are created, structured, managed and encultured;
b) markets emerge and are shaped by their historical, institutional and cultural context;
c) how local and global institutions and forces shape both organizations and markets in emerging economies and how the two interact.
Combining the variety and similarities of emerging economies with the interaction between organizations and their markets allows scholars to disclose specifics of emerging markets from numerous perspectives.
Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies welcomes analysis of emerging economies from the perspectives of organizational sciences, marketing, economics, finance and related disciplines. The journal appreciates studies that highlight specificities and patterns that occur in emerging economies and develop new empirical and theoretical knowledge on the subject.
The journal is open for:
- empirical papers that study specific issues employing qualitative or quantitative methodologies
- literature review articles that summarize and evaluate the current stock of theoretical knowledge on a specific issue;
- conceptual/theory building articles that develop propositions and outline directions for further research.
In all cases the journal equally appreciates and encourages research by scholars from emerging economies as well as studies that are undertaken by researchers from developed countries and aims to achieve synergy between these sources. The concept of synergy is reflected in the structure of the editorial board as well as in the network of reviewers, which allows the peer review procedure to be rigorous and constructive, helping to advance research papers.
The Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is a journal of quality studies and focuses on new aspects of organizational and market studies in emerging economies.
