„Kresy Pierwszej i Drugiej Rzeczypospolitej“ (the ‘Kresy’ of the Commonwealth of Both Nations and the Second Republic of Poland), i.e. an exercise in close reading of a certain map. Reflections on the contemporary ‘Kresy’ discourse
The article is an attempt to interpret a schematic map entitled Kresy I i II Rzeczypospolitej (‘Kresy’ of the I and II Republic, published in Bolesław Hadaczek’s companion History of the ‘Kresy’ literature). I try to read this text of culture critically, showing on its example the abusive functioning of the ‘Kresy’ discourse.
